Homonal Methods

The “Pill” has been the mainstay of contraception for women for many years. Compared with other methods its fairly convenient and quite effective. It does require a woman to remember to take the pill every day. Missing a day can increase the risk. Since no-one is perfect and consistently remembering to take the pill every day isn’t possible for some women, longer-term, slow-release hormonal methods have been developed. Such options include; “The Patch”, the “Injection” and the “Implant”. By taking the fallibility of the user out the equation, the effectiveness of these other methods approach the theoretical effectiveness levels of around 97%.
