Rhythm Method
A woman can only get pregnant during the days around ovulation in the middle of her menstrual cycle. The rough rule of thumb is that the 5 days leading up to ovulation and the 3 days following ovulation are days during which fertilization of an egg is possible. Obviously when it comes to nature, nothing is absolute. This method requires a woman to accurately determine the anticipated day of ovulation using both the calendar as well as temperature monitoring and cervical mucus evaluation. These judgments involve a level of imprecision and subjectivity thus the 25% failure rate.
