Withdrawal
The “withdrawal” method of contraception involves simply withdrawing the penis from the vagina before ejaculation. This method is very ineffective due to the following reasons: (1) some sperm-containing fluid (“pre-cum”) is still likely to be left in the vagina. (2) Some sperm deposited on the outside of the vagina could still make its way into the vagina. (3) Sometimes the penis is not withdrawn in time. (4) The man must be disciplined and determined not to withdraw to late. This method is only 70% to 75% effective.
